The Go-Go Girl is the book I always wanted to read. It’s a mix of every great form of literature. At its core The Go-Go Girl is a noir adventure novel that follows, Tess, as she tries to get away after stealing money and drugs. There is an influence of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett.
The structure of the story follows The Great Gatsby and The Old Man and The Sea. It is a fast-paced and exciting read that carries its momentum throughout the book.
It could’ve been a plain cut and dry adventure thriller, but the style of writing elevates The Go-Go Girl far beyond that. The metaphors in the book follow the spirit of Surrealist writing and add colorful and exciting dimensions to what the characters experience.
The Go-Go Girl delves into themes of loneliness, drug addiction, destructive love, and the urge to runaway from a mundane life.
The Go-Go Girl is perfect read to bring on a quick trip, or a weekend read. The characters show the world in a new way as they escape across Europe.
This book has everything I loved from the books I’ve read in my life, and that’s why I am proud to be the author.
